How common is it for a penny to be struck off center? One of the coins I have seems to have a wide rim on one side, & on the other side of the same face the "5" on the date is very faint. This coin came from a newly opened roll. Is it worth keeping?

Just about any penny that is struck off center and is noticeable fetches a premium but especially any later issues Since most of the Mint errors were supposed to be non-existent with the new minting equipment! If you have one that is struck off center with a fading "5", then it would fetch an even higher premium and is worth keeping!

Post a photo please...I have seen some dates that are just a littke weekly struck on that side and makes it look like its off center but its not really...its more a week strike.

Sounds like you have a minor misalignment of the obverse die and, perhaps, an unrelated minor filled die error. The weak 5 could also be caused by a minor vertical misalignment. A picture would help.
