2005 buffalo Half closed E in WE

    Found this today when looking in a roll of nicks I got in change while X-mas shopping, Thought some of you would like to see. Its in the word "WE" In god WE trust on a 2005 buff nick. anyone else found one?
    Couldnt see anything else wrong with the coin. I guess this would be called a cud, look more like a cancer lump on the E. :)

    Yeah something along those lines,,I think you would call it a cud? I dont really know what to call it.

    Yeah, die chip or die dent. Cute little error, probably get you at least a few dollars if you wanted to sell it. Heck, the error market has been absolutely ga-ga lately.

    true fish,, The errors are getting to be a big market. I think i will just keep it for 20 30 years the see what will come from it. Only cost me a nickel. lol

    Nice find! I just keep thinking how many great coins I just spent away without checking before I started really "looking" at them from a collectors standpoint. Oh well, better late then never.

    It is a die chip. A cud is normally (well just about always) used to refer to a die with a broke piece near the rim and that has separated, leaving a void.
    The voided area is just a glob, looking like the cud that a cow chews. This is the origin of the term, but I cannot remember who coined it, Alan Herbert, I think but I am not sure.
