This 2005 Bison proof which was graded by NGC surprises me. It got a PF70 grade, but the coin looks like it has a fault in it. I posted the image below. I'm using the photos NGC took of the coin since I don't have a half decent camera available, and please note what looks like particles outside that circle are not actually on the coin. The coin is very nice, but there is one noticeable defect on the reverse. There is a small hole of sorts on Jefferson's neck, as circled below.

How in the heck did this still get a PF70 grade?

Easy answer - graders are not perfect and do make mistakes.

that is not a 70. I wish that they would just stop throwing that grade around like this.

Well the last two graded coins I received from NGC was disappointing to me. One was the 2008 silver eagle with the 07 reverse was graded 70. There is no this coin should have received that grade. Also a WW ll nickel was slabbed 66 and even with my failing eye sight, I do not see how this coin received a 66 grade.

Good thing about it, I have started learning how to grade much better than I have in the past. People have always been looking for a way to make a buck but it Looks like we are living in world that emphasises fast, cheap service with quality taking a back seat.

Now if those folks will fix my new lawn mower that died two weeks after I purchased it.
