I found this in a roll of nickels today. I got them from the bank, and they were hand-rolled. I checked the coin to make sure it was authentic, and everything seemed right. This is my favorite ever roll find! I asked a few error coin experts, and one said the value would probably be at least $100! I checked on the rotated die coin census, and this one is not listed, so I submitted it. I obviously am not going to sell the coin. Perhaps this will forever be known as the rock-climbing bison variety? (The bison in the second picture should appear upside down, but the rotation makes him appear as if he is sitting down)
Nice find! Would you be willing for me to post about this find on my varietynickel.com site? I'll send you details by PM if you are interested! Speedy
Thanks, guys! Believe me, I'm the last one you should come to for good luck! Before this, my best find was that clashed die nickel. BTW, JHar, I think both pennies and nickels are good. Pennies if you want to find older stuff (wheats), nickels if you want to find silver (war timers). Neither one has very many errors to be honest. Here's a better picture of the obverse and reverse together:
pretty nice find! i've been doing that flip thing to all the coins i get to see if they are rotated dies! i see it can pay off! :high5:
