I found this 2004 p nickel which appears to have been struck without a rim on a type 1 planchet. Can anyone help me with this please! 20190327_210821.jpg 20190326_161730-1.jpg 20190327_210821.jpg 20190326_161730-1.jpg 20190326_161718-1.jpg 20190326_161711-1.jpg

Unfortunately, that's just damage done after the coin left the US Mint.
99.9% of coins you find "different" are all due to damage. Coins are used for currency and everything else like parking lot fodder. if you make a checklist of every coin that goes through your hands you'll find a lot of damaged coins, either lightly or heavily damaged.

Even if it is damaged wouldn't it still have a rim on? Which happens in the upsetting process where the rim is placed on before pressing coin with the coin die. Thank you for your input.

Damaged. One can grind the rim away and polish it.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

You'd be surprised what can be fine to a coin.
