I found this Lincoln cent while roll hunting. I have been researching it online and think it fits the description of a fill die error, but I am interested in what the pros have to say here in the forum so....here I am!
First, welcome to the neighborhood! You have to understand that a filled die error occurs when grease and/or debris fills the recessed devices on the die, thereby, preventing metal to flow into them. Since all of the devices (the raised elements of the design) are present on this coin, it can't be a filled die error. Like diggit said, it is probably just circulation damage. For what it's worth, filled die errors are very common, particularly on Lincoln cents, so it doesn't add any significant premium to the value. Chris
