Hey Ya’ll! Hope ur all enjoying the weekend :) I’ve been doing really well spotting interesting spare change with issues. I found this beautiful, shiny, flawed coin today. The line goes almost the entire length of the quarter. This has gotta be a mint error, right? I’ve got some other neat finds I’ll post later on.

Okay, Iv'e looked at the Pics and I think it's just a very straight Scratch . A die crack is usually a zig zag pattern not straight . IMHO

Second, on a scratch, you can see it comes down along the rim of the coin as well in one of the pictures.

The resolution on your photos isn’t fine enough to say with 100% certainty, but I’m going with about 98% that it is indeed a PMD scratch.
If it truly were the result of a die crack, the line would be raised up from the surface of the coin, not scratched into it - as the photos appear to show. And, as Sal mentioned, dis cracks are very rarely straight lines.
The scratch was most likely caused by a coin feeder. It appears that the spring action of something like a feeder arm kept the pressure constant across the fields and reliefs, creating a line with consistent depth.
Even though the coin is only worth face value, you did notice that this is indentation is indeed different from most of the other scratches you’ve encountered. Congratulations and keep up the hunt!

Looks too straight to be anything other than a scratch.

Just damage. Look at the rim and see that it starts there and then the surface.

Almost certainly a scratch, but would need to see photos from under a USB microscope to rule out struck through wire.
