I just came across the 2004-D Roosevelt Dime and I could not find this Doubled Die listed anywhere. Has anyone heard or seen one like this before? The Doubling is obviously on the mint mark but there is also less obvious doubling on IGWT. There is extra thickness and a slight CW rotation which is difficult to see in these pictures. I am getting to much light refraction from the coin to get proper pictures but I can clearly see it through a loop. Thoughts?
Hmm interesting. I am not sure. The 04' had a double EAR. Makes me wonder if there are any other variety's. I want to say MD, as I have never found out if the EAR is actually a Doubled Die.
Yes I find lots of information about the ear but I haven't found anything about any other doubling for that year. There are signs all around this coin of minor and very minor doubling but I cant photographically capture it so I didn't mention it but the MM is very clear and obvious. The part that baffles me is that in 12 years no one has seen one of these.
