I got this coin in change at a local market. I would like some info about this coin. It is my understanding that it was not ment for circulation. I am not familiar with some of the oddities of the coin as it is nothing like the 2003's I have. Same coin, different lighting. Hope these photos are ok. 18231154763.jpg 182311562454.jpg

Can you point out the oddities you are seeing.

It's a proof, or rather, an impaired proof. are the "oddities" the frosted devices and mirrored fields? all modern proofs are like that.

It seems the 200 is thicker than the 3 in the date. Other lettering is thick also. Is it true this coin got into circutation in error. I have only circulation coins at this time. Is this a keeper?

I keep all proofs I find in the wild not worth more but good hole fillers.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

This coin is a proof. It was not meant for circulation, but because it has a very low value in low grades, sometimes collectors or dealers will just spend it rather than trying to sell it. The coin is now PR-55 - a circulated, impaired proof. Its worth a penny.
