I get my uncirculated eagles for about $10, and in proof for about $30.

"In the box" suggests a proof coin to me, and if that's the case and if it's authentic and still uncirculated, then that seems like a pretty good deal, unless maybe it turns out to have spots or fingerprints or something.

If you have to pay $5.00 shipping, though, you are probably better off buying from a local dealer.

    Just my uncirculated 0.02.

Any dealer, most coin shops and of course Ebay as the circulated Eagles are very economical to collect.

Just because it says 'in the box' doesn't mean it's proof.

    flamtap -

Let me ask you a question - this silver eagle that you bought, does the surface of the coin look like a mirror ? Can you actually see your reflection in it ?

Be carefull, there are also Uncirculated SAE's packaged by private companies with COA'a and put in velvet boxes that are very similar to the boxes that proof silver eagles come in. These were usually some in banks, by advertisments etc. at inflated prices. There is nothing special about these coins and they are not worth any more than any other Unc SAE.
