Would this be considered a lamination error on the obverse? It looks like a die crack to me but the color change has me confused. Found this in some change I got back.
It looks like a stain to me, too. If it had been a die crack, it would be raised where the metal flowed into the void. Chris
If you take a look at Rick's link, you'll see he's talking about something different. The issue along the edge is, as the other gentlemen have said, most certainly a stain. That said, keeping is a personal decision, and there's nothing wrong with doing so if you prefer.
Ok, I thought the stain may have been also connected to what Rick pointed out sorry. I know it's not valuable either way but I like to keep any errors I come across. I was debating whether to put it in the coin bucket to dump at my banks change machine or keep it. Thanks again guys!
Please don't get me wrong. My point was that the beauty of your hobby is that it's your hobby, and are free to make it whatever pleases you. I've known many who save coins with little to no real "value", but do so simply because they like them. If you like it, save it.
Hello i found a penny looks almost exactly like this one except it is raised all around on the underside i don't know if it is a die error
