Sometimes a "dropped element" can be impressed into the surface of a planchet when it is in the coining chamber, and it may or may not be retained. Unfortunately, the only "Y" on the obverse die is from LIBERTY, and it is at least twice the size of the letter shown on this coin. I don't see how the letter "Y" from the font of another coin could have been impressed into your coin without showing some evidence of damage to the rim where the rims of both coins crossed. I think it is just PMD. Chris
squeeze job, someone squeezed your coin between what looks like 2 others as both sides of yours is affected, you can also see a partial "T" before the "Y", probly from the word liberty of another coin....
