Why does the 2003 clad proof set with a mintage less than 1999,2001,and 2002 sets sell for less according to Numismatic News Trends? And why are 1999 and 2001 sets so much higher in price.
Howdy crown nic - Welcome to the Forum !! It's a matter of supply and demand - other than that, I don't know that you'll ever get a definitive answer. But it has always been my thinking that in some years collectors get the sets they want direct from the mint and in some years they don't. The sets for the years they do - sell for less - the sets for the years they don't sell for more because they have to buy them on the secondary market.
I bought all of my dealers stock of 2000 PF Sets and the price still hasn't gone up even though I demand more Well...I didn't demand more...I asked if he had any and he said no... Speedy
