I'm new to collecting current currency, but I've been inspired by some of the posts that I've seen on here to start searching bundles of singles, and I came across this 2003 series $1 with a number in the serial number printed a little bit lower than the others. Is it anything special? It is circulated. I thought it was neat, it's really one of the most interesting things I have pulled from circulation, second to a mangled franklin half. Sorry for the bad cell phone pics, but it does it's job, and I can't be bothered finding my card reader etc...

I have an idea of which number is lower but tell us which one you think it is.

The second to last number 5, or the second 5.

im no expert with currency but im not seeing a significant enough drop in the number to constitute an error, we shall see what others say but i believe its no error. good luck and keep searchin.

I would say it's to small a difference to garner a premium. I don't have a U.S. bill with a mis-aligned digit but I do have this Canadian one. You can see how much it has to be off before it gets any more value:

Oh well, still pretty cool, something I'll probably hold onto. Maybe next time I'll find one that is lower!

Do US bills with misaligned numbers carry a premium? If so how much of one.

I keep all I find, too. Some are barely noticeable, some quite a bit more.

In this thread I posted some U.S. I bought. I paid a lot (in my books) for them but I wanted something unusual for my collection. The $20 was just a nice high denomination one that I added. All three together ran me around $250 already slabbed.
