    Copper plating wore off the edges due to circulation. Lousy Zincoln cent.

    I think it was scraped on something intentionally to take the plating off the rim. I think normal circulation wear would affect more areas.

    No way it was intentional. See how close the rolled rim is to the lettering? The rim has been flattened, thus thickening it. Rolling in a dryer will cause this. Measure it with a caliper.
