A receive this 2001 proof from the mint upon examination I notice something wrong on the rim, under closer examination 40 power I could clearly see the grease in the V. But over the years time 'cause the grease to shrink, and the movement of the coin over the years 'cause the greas to come out of the v. That's why I will not take the coin out of the capsule because I do not want to lose the grease as you can see in the photos. And in my past thread missing I knew I had a coin with some retain Greece. Please enjoy the photos, and if your first name starts with a v I would definitely want the coin
I couldn't imagine what a post about "lubricating Greece" could be, but I had to click to find out. But I was disappointed, just a misspell.
Hello Chris I know my spelling s problems with voice recognition again and no I don't have a camera that takes a good closeup and I'm sure you know what a silver dollar looks like. And yes I failed to mention that and I'm looking for a good a You did look camera that will take good closeups of coins,
I've understood everything you've said, but I wouldn't want to guess unless I had a better perspective of the coin. I've said this before to others that close-ups are helpful, but when you have your nose right against the bark of a tree, how can you see the rest of the forest? Chris
Chris totally agree with you if it was possible for a larger photo I would have taken it, I'm working on it, Chris don't have a smart phone I hear you can take pretty good closeups of coins with it. Looking for a good digital camera with macio capabilities.
Chris the main focal point is on the v and the grease does it not make the rest of the coin insignificant ?
Whether you use a smart phone or a camera, you need to have a very steady hand. The best accessory for a camera would be a copy stand or a tripod. Chris
I wouldn't call that a Greece or grease error. From your pictures it appears that you have magnified the rim of a coin at least 40 to 50 times. The "V" between the reeds on the edge of that coin, match the detail you are showing. If I had to give an educated guess, it would be a strike through of a fin broken off of a previously struck coin.
Chris all I can say is take one of you're silver dollar proof look at it I think that's a better than a photo better yet just for you Chris
Hammer hammer hammer as stated in the opening the v in the outside of the rim (had the grease in it) from the mint over the years shrinkage caused it to come out. That is what you're looking at in the photographs nothing else clause that v in the rim
That isn't the point! I need to see the anomaly on your coin from a different perspective. Look at my photo below. What do you see?
