What could have caused this extra lock of hair? Also, why is there such a lack of detail in that area?
Looks like a die gouge and the lack of detail could be from the mint workers trying to remove the gouge with polishing taking some of the detail with it.
Thanks rockdude... Man, with die crack errors on almost every coin, and all these other ERRORS, how the hell does anyone know what is worth saving for errors! I can look at almost every coin and find an error. I found an error on the Idaho quarter today that looks like a dd, but why should i post it? When looking for errors, is it only the mules? Are errors only GRAND SLAMS hit out of the park? Can't the mint get it right and try NOT to produce "NOT CONSIDERED A MINT ERROR"?
