Hi everyone. I have a general question about this penny.

I came across this penny in my pocket from change recently. It looks like the "1" in the year is practically not there. It doesn't "pop" like the "200" does. Held at the correct angle the "1" almost disappears.

Is this a mintage error/problem, or just plain wear?

If I had to guess, I'd say wear, but I've been known to be wrong before....

If you need better photos let me know. I can take more.

    Thanks for looking.

Looks like a grease filled die. Basically grease filled the 1 on the die and when it struck this cent, it didnt show because grease occupied the space of the one, not allowing metal to flow into the crevice to create the 1 on the coin.

Yes an error. Fairly common especially on the date of lincoln cents, and not dramatic enough to be worth much. Some people do collect these however.
