Hi this is my first post here. I have just become responsible for a very large coin collection collected by my father and grandfather there are several error coins that I have not been able to identify. I hope someone here can help to tell ne if there is any value to these coins. This coin is a 2001p Dime missing 1 in 2001. Is this an error coin and if so is there any value? Thanks in advance for any help. I will have more coins in the future that will need help. I hope the picture is ok. 2001 dime.JPG

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Art!

Your coin was struck as the result of a grease-filled die. What happens is that grease and debris can accumulate in the recesses of a die. As the die continues to strike other planchets, this grease and debris becomes compacted and can eventually fill the entire recess making it look like the digit is not there at all. It's not worth much more than face value except to a bidiot.
