2001 copper quarter road island

    This quarter looks just like copper it's lighter in weight and a little thinner

    its my 8 year old posting some coins . Too funny .
    Anyway ,Do you think it's something worth saving.. if so ... What should we/he mark it as?

    You need to accurately weigh the quarter and inspect it carefully. It may be plated (post mint damage) or have some other environmental damage (post mint damage). It could also be a true error coin and be quite valuable. :) Here is a thread that describes some error types that resemble your coin:

    PMD, possibly a metal detecting coin.

    They frequently look like that

    I would agree with Treashunt. It is most probably environmental damage.

    We see these a lot. There are so many in circulation. Environmental exposure toning damage.
