Hi all, I picked these up at the Flea Market today.. Ten 200 Russian currency. Can anyone tell me what they are? I know they are not worth anything. For $1.00 each I grabbed them just for fun
200 Rubles, they were designed during the USSR era when the ruble was finally allowed to float on the international market - I was there in 1991 when the new 100 Rubles came out. The 200 ruble notes were made to be released beginning in 1992, by that time though the USSR ceased to exist but they still circulated in Russia and some of the new central Asian countries until the exclusively Russian ruble series with the Russian flag and the Kremlin came out later in 1992 and many of the central Asian countries adopted their own starter currencies. When I was there the ruble was about 33:$1, at the end of the freefall of value when they adopted the new ruble in 1997 it was about 5000:$1.
