2000 penny... any ideas on these marks...

These are two raised marks on the back of his collar. I have ruled out air bubbles, they are solid. Not sure what they might be.

Look like two small die chips.

Could be a defect on the die. Dents, small gouge or even corrosion of the zinc.

 

looks like gas bubbles to me

 

Plating separation of the copper and zinc. Gas bubbles, if you so desire.

 

Could be anything anyone noted but probably a few plating bubbles. Poke one with a toothpick while viewing it under magnification and see if it flexes - if it moves, then plating bubbles...

 

Wexler has found a few new die error for the 2000 so ck this out.

I noticed that also but what the heck, good info anyway. Maybe it will be useful someother time and then it will show up on a search (if anyone uses that anymore).
