2000 P Maryland clip or PMD?

    Can any of the experts tell me what could make a coin split like this? Almost looks like where the two layers meet. Could be from a crimping machine, the mint, or any number of sources I guess. I don't see the (and I'm going to spell this wrong) blaksly effect on the opposite side.     It looks like someone might have attempted to create a clip. Note that there are actually two cuts, one inside the rim and one on the rim. If you understand how a clip is made, you would know that a "double cut" like this is impossible.
