Howdy Spader - Welcome to the Forum !!

Based on your description it sounds like your coins was struck with a clogged die. This type of error is quite common and because of that it has little value. But they do make neat collectibles.

Yes, clogged die, as in the last digit was filled with traces of metals and hence causing the digit to have vanished.

So, ok, his coin is somewhat discounted as a clogged or Greasey die; What exactly is a Error coin???

I mean to me, if it came from the mint anything besides perfect as far as marking or stampings, it seem to be an error... (except for scratches, dints and dings)

I see a lot of posts about errors and supposed errors, but I'll admit, I know a lil less than squat about them...

Did you look on the reverse for that last number? Sometimes the Mint runs out of room on one side of a coin and continue on the other side and just don't tell people. :smile :smile
For real that is common on the 2000 Lincoln Cent coins. Errors are a growing thing lately. At coin shows I've noticed some dealers selling almost all error coins exclusively. This all started with people writting books on error coins making the population aware of there existance. Also, the famous 55DD cent started the craze really big. If you check out that web site coppercoins.com or buy his book Looking through Lincolns, you'll see that there are error Cents for every year. That book made me go back an look at every coin I have or will ever have for errors. It appears an errror today is now just any coin that is in some way not like it is supposed to be. Even slight offsets, doubling of the rim, missing letters or numbers, discolorations, etc are now all called errors at the coin shows I've been going to.

I have the disappearing "0" on a dime too. Let me see if I can dig it out. Maybe get a picture.

It's an error - it's just a very common error. And because it's so common it has little or no value.
