I have a 2000 D penny that is clear but very rough on the rim and the hole coin. Up close it is even in all the lettering. Looks to be a shallow printed coin. And the color looks a little pinkish like there was another metal added or something. Does anyone else have one of these or can help me understand this coin? Thanks.

Well...I'm sure many will say it is some phony fake but we can help deter that if you would be able to post scans of the coin...

Yea, it would be very helpful to see the coin, or at least a picture of the coin. There are a good number of people here who are far more qualified in error coins than I to explain what might be going on with your coin.

Apparently you still don't get it. No one has ever said that any of the coins you have participated in discussing WERE fakes. It has ONLY been said that the coins MAY be fakes. There is a huge difference between the two comments.

Myself and everyone else who has cared to comment on these coins, readily agrees that such genuine errors do exist. They are so common that it would be foolish NOT to agree. But people with experience also agree that this type of error is often faked.

Now I am sure you think that most of my comments are directed at you - but on the contrary they are not. Most of the comments I make are for the benefit of the others who may read this. For they actually do wish to learn - to know of ALL the possibilities, not just one.

I can't say for sure, but it appears as if the coin was weakly struck and has undergone normal wear. As for the coloring, I think the coin may have come in contact with some liquid - no telling what - in the course of circualtion that has caused it.

Ok thanks for the info. I have other coins that the lettering overruns the rim on the penny.

I think you attached the wrong file to this post - it is the same coin as in your first post.

But it sounds like, from your description, that the coin may be struck off center.

Ok here is a coin that looks to have been copper coated. You can see that some spots and therim are exposing a silver look from wear. What is wrong here?

Opps here is the off center coin i think. The IN GOD on the front is part on the rim. And on the back the UNI is actualy just barely on the rim. Is it a slite off center or what is your opinoin?

That's because it is copper coated. Beginning in 1982 the cent planchet was changed to a zinc core clad in copper. With this coin the copper has worn through and the zinc is showing.

Yes - it appears to be slightly off center.

I will post my agreement to GDJMSP's assessment on all counts.
