2000 D Nickel

    It looks like doubling in the year and the rim is really strange. Please see the pictures below. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Looks like die deterioration doubling on the date...can't comment on the rim as I don't really know what's going on there.

    In the picture of the date, the rim that you see is actually going down on the side of the coin instead of raised up.

    I wonder if this could perhaps be a broadstrike. The only thing is that both sides of the coin are centered and the only other issue with it is the doubled lettering. Thank you all for your responses. They are very much appreciated.

    doubled letters are unrelated to the strike issue.

    Also, Here is a picture of the 2000 nickel with a 2002 nickel. The face on the 2000 nickel looks real funny to me, especially from his nose to his chin. Any thoughts?

    Snooderpuff your coin looks like a normal 5 cent coin to me, some coins just looks a little different due to die wear . IMO this type of mechanical doubling is just part of a normal coin.
