Gotta look through about 2000 ancients at the local shop in flagstaff today, but many were in evenlopes and I skimed through many, mostly trying to find a few to fill a couple holes. After looking through, I found that I have alot of holes to fill  lol It was a real treat though to go through them.

Nice ones Randy... I especially like the second one you posted, the Crispus with the bust left, shield and spear, and the captives on the reverse... I like how on the obverse, the titles are broken with the spear, with the first letter 'C' on one side, then the 'RISPUS....' on the other side of the spear... very cool coin.

Of the group that is my favorite and the Easter egg rear is the reason.

Philosophy: Don't collect to fill holes but collect what becomes available and seems like you should make a hole for it. After all, how many of us had an Easter egg rear on our want list?

Opinion: part of the fun of ancients is being able to go through 2000 coins to find five you want to adopt. When you open an envelope marked 1909S VDB VF you have a pretty good idea what you will see. When you open an envelope marked Constantius II you never know what will slide out. It is even more fun if the 2000 coins were an old collection and you can try to figure out what it was about that coin that appealed to the previous owner. Did he see the egg?

Nice additions. I like the second to last one the best.

I'm using the phrase "holes to fill" loosely :) . My favorate out of them all is also the easter egg. I was mostly focusing on fallen horseman and came across it. It said buy me :D

Santa is checking his list and you will be able to keep warm with a stocking full of coal for what you did to that reindeer.

  19. I imagine it took a long time to go through 2000 of anything. I've only seen about 150 ancients in person, total.
