I got this from an ATM machine a few weeks ago. Nice and crisp, and since I have no knowledge of paper money, I was wondering if this is something worth saving, or should I spend it? Any ideas as to what happened to this bill? It's not dirt. Definitely ink, but how do I tell how it got there? Ok, time for those with experience to chime in. Thanks

It looks like it has been stored in such a way that the paper ended up becoming mouldy.

either that or it was washed in a pocket of new blue jeans. the new blue jeans give off a little blue ink when they are new.

    That's a very nice error.

Sumorada, that is a very nice error that is worth hanging on to.I hope that you have got it in a protective sleeve. You wouldn't want to spend it by mistake.

thats kindof weird, you can see the watermark without holing it out to the light. i think that is a error.

Nice note...it looks like a bleed thru when the paper/ink was still slightly wet and stacked. Ya know the ink from the one on top and bottom...I am not 100% sure..but have read about these things happening. Anyone know for sure??

I don't think I can agree with the - washed in the pocket of blue jeans. I can't believe it would look quite like this. As for the ink turning moldy.. I can believe that on the edges, but not the large streaks on the back. I guess I'll just hold on to it until I can get somebody to take a look at it for me.

I've seen what currency looks like after its been washed in a pair of blue jeans and dried for 80 minutes and I've never seen any bills come out looking like that. Im told I have the cleanest money in Pennsylvania. :D

I would have to see this note. I see cross-hatching that does not look like the very fine engraving lines from a note staked above or below. Ink smudges I have seen do not look like this. I would have to see the note to give an honest appraisal....

One side or the other would have ink smudges, these notes go through several printings and would not have ink transfers on both sides... all at once.

Something is wrong with this note, but it didn`t happen at the BEP, in my opinion...

    Hi Sumorada
    I am not a professional.
I do consider myself an expert in certain aspects in the coin and currency fields. Of course I meant "I would have to see this note" meaning if I saw it in person, I would give a better opinion. It does not mean I would accept any fee to appraise the note as an authentic error.. It would be only my opinion.
But I gave my opinion based on the pics you posted. In my opinion, based on the pics posted, I would say it is NOT a BEP error. I gave the reasons why I thought so.
Not seeing the note in person, I very well could be wrong.
