Not too familiar with paper money but i got a $20 star note from my bank the other day. It is crisp uncirculated condition 2009 series. Generally what would a $20 star note be worth?

First off, what is the serial number? This will immediately tell us what kind of run we're looking at.

I had one of those about 8the years ago. Very crisp. I asked the owners of a coin shop if it was worth anything more than face and they said no so I spent it...wish I saved it now.

8 years ago would be the older style $20 no color. To date I have only found one of those in circulation 1996 $20 NY star.

Ok, well, here is how the 2009 $20 star runs break down, thus far (I included dates of printing on JE stars, because two runs look to have been printed for those, so far):

    JB*: 3,200,000

    JJ*: 512,000

    JG*: 1,280,000

    JD*: 640,000

    JE*: 320,000 (printed 8/2010)

    JF*: 3,200,000

    JE*: 3, 840,000 (printed 3/2011)

I'm sorry now that I take a closer look it is a 2004 series (sorry I misread) and the serial number is ec06540669*.

Oh, well in that case, it looks like your note is from run 3, of the Philly $20 stars for that series, totaling 320,000 notes. That's quite a low print run, so I would keep it, if I were you.
