I am not into paper money but a co-worker asked me for help on this note. Waht does she have and does it have any value? Condition is normal circulated. Series is 1929E

It is a Federal Reserve Bank Note printed in 1933. FRBN were printed in 1933 to get money into circulation quickly during the Depression. Banks were failing at an alarming rate and significant amounts of cash were tied up in closed banks. Beginning with Michigan in December 1932, many states declared Bank Holidays closing the state chartered banks to prevent a run on deposits. It all came to a climax on March 6, 1933 when FDR ordered all banks in the country closed. The banks were re-opened over time but the closings and restrictions on transactions left a shortage of currency in circulation. These notes were printed on paper intended for National Bank Notes as an "emergency currency" to provide money for commerce. The remaining stock was used again during WWII when other printing needs, most notably the printing of war bonds, left the BEP with no resources to print new notes. Most FRBN are readily available. In this grade, I would put a value at $40-50.00
