$20 inking error?

The eagle is a bright sky blue. A teller gave it to me after she confirmed multiple times that it is not counterfeit. What do you think, error or not? If so, what type of error? Thanks

after looking at the 2 notes together i am thinking it was washed in something or with something. is that a smudge on the left black border or is it just dirt? if it is a smudge i would say definitely it has been washed. but thats JMHO

 

it is dirt. I don't think its washed, I know what that feels like now. LOL. Also, the rest of the inks are not faded and the lighter blue is super bright. Way brighter than my pics show for some reason. I'll put them under the blacklight to see if I can see anything unusual. Does that change your opinion any?

i will wait for the blacklight test lol i too think something was done to the note....

 

i too would like to see it under the black light. if there is nothing there out of place it might be some type of inking error. i dont really know the process for printing new money. please keep us informed. curious what others have to say.

 

Interesting...I am wondering if a solvent may have come into contact at one point it time?

I do not know Noost..lets see what the BL shows as well.

THe note in question is the top note and the rightmost note. Does not look like chems were used.

 

ran another experiment against the cleaners I know that don't leave BL tells. Top is ispyrol alcohol, middle is the note in question and the last one cleaned in peroxide. I tried to rub off the eagle as well as saked a rag in each solvent and let it sit on the eagle area.

 

I fear this may be a really good counterfeit. It passes the counterfeit machine test at the bank (multiple times), the pen test and the teller says she had someone at "the fed" check it and told her it was good. If you look closely however, you can see the xxxxxxxxx instead of USA 20 in the security strip. THe back security strip does say USA 20 like it should.

 

very interesting. i wouldn't think it was a counterfeit. but that strip seems to say other wise. i wonder if a solvent could have affected the strip??

 

I don't think it would change from USA 20 to all xxxxxxx like that if it were a solvent. I am biased though as I want it to be something special.

BUT looking at all your pictures... the note in question always looks 'slightly' different. The security strip looks 'duller' in the 1 picture when it was compared to another $20 - on the second $20 the security strip is much brighter. In another post, where you showed 3 notes... the paper of the note in questions seemed brighter where the other 2 notes both looked the same, and were a bit darker.

in all cases, the note in questions looked different in some fashion. i dont think the note is counterfeit. In the super high tech fakes - the strips are good. In the bleached notes, the strip is also good but shows a different denomination. On this note i dont see a XXXX on the security strip - what i see instead is a pattern on the strip that is also visable on other notes.

Of course - you are in a better position then we are to judge the note because you have it in hand!

sorry - but i stil think its been washed,treated or something .... but i am easily wrong
