I started by just buying some bullion gold. But now I guess I am putting together a type & country collection of small world gold coins. I have 6 coins with 20 Franc demonination, what am I missing?

Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembough, Swiss, Tunisia

Nothing. Now get a 20 lire of the same size and era. It was known as the Latin Monetary Union and it failed for the reasons all such things eventually must - cheating and national sovereignty concerns. It mostly was able to hold from the American Civil War until World War I.

Thanks. I have a 1863 T Italy & a 1857 Eagle Head Sardinia. I'll snatch more as I find and can afford them.

Here are a few LMU "20" gold coins (German Wikipedia, but you don't need to read much there). In the upper row, four coins from LMU members; below four others from non-members that nevertheless used the same standards. That is not a complete "gallery" of course but may give you an idea of what to get next. :)

Depends on how far you want to go. I believe that the following countries made coins that were in accordance with the LMU 20 franc standard:

    Italy
    Vatican
    Romania
    Bulgaria
    Greece
    Austria
    Albania
