Welcome to CoinTalk, MM. That is a VERY nice Twenty Center you have there. Looks to be EF to me with all letters of LIBERTY visible. (LIBERTY is raised on the 20 Cent rather than incuse like on other Seated coinage.)
congrats on the fine example. The hole in my 7070 for this coin is still empty. maybe I'll have some good luck this weekend at the coin show in my town.
I'm no expert on the 20-Cent series but 45 for this coin does not seem excessive. The toning is attractive (and, I think, original) but I cannot tell if the coin retains any luster. In 45 I think you want a bit of luster. I don't know. I would say it is a solid 40 and a possible 45.
Ya the details are there IMO, but the darkness of the tone has me thinking. I feel it is a natural tone but it doesn't let you make judgement on the luster and surfaces. The coin could look a lot brighter toned in hand though.
Hello Matchmaker, Look very closely at the S mint mark to see if it is punched twice & appears like a $ sign. Very best regards, collect89
Nice coin, first of all. I'm in need of one of those to bring my type set closer to an end. Now, since this is in the what's it worth forum, I guess I'll give you my best UNeducated guess. I would guess it's worth somewhere in the vicinity of $235 ish?
