I am not the expert coin/paper money collector at all but when I come across something like a old all silver quarter I tend to hang on to it. But a few years ago I withdrew some money from an atm and as i counted it I notice the back top right corner or the bill with the 20 symbol and the zero of the 20 was not inked in. Weird. Never saw this again, I check all the time now and nothing. Any ideas anybody?
Thank you for the warm welcome, I will try and get that on here today. Just the corner? Or the complete back?
Here are a few pictures, I hope they load correctly. Also my error, the 2 is not inked in, not the zero
It looks interesting. Might be underinked. If you look at it with a loupe or magnifying glass, you should be able to tell if it was a printing error or if someone tried removing it.
Thanks ikandiggit, I looked at it with a magnifying glass, I do see light light ink but don't see any scrapes on the paper or anything. Any idea on how I can tell?
That's definitely strange. I would be careful in saying that it is an insufficient inking since only the "2" is showing that. It could be that someone was bored one day and decided to take an eraser to the 2, or something else that would cause only that part of the bill to be light. The best thing would be to send it in and have it graded/authenticated.
For the "2" to be as light (of ink) as it is, I think that some type of oil, or cleaner may have fill the 2 up at inking time and the "2" would not have enough ink to transfer to the paper. As if the plate was not cleaned completely off before printing started in this area. Unique piece, nice find, a keeper for sure. -O)
