First post so be gentle. I have collected coins all my life but only ever paid attention to odd paper currency (silver certs, etc.) Today I noticed my first ever star note. It is a 2009 $2 bill. B00012063*. So Ive been reading trying to figure this out. I understand what a star note is now, but what would the value of this be?
probly no premium now but will go up in future, altho someone on ebay might pay a few bucks more for it, heres a few sites u can check out http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/lookup http://www.uspapermoney.info/
Maybe $3 on eBay in its current condition. But with shipping and fees, you'll probably lose money. It's a low serial number but from a large print run. It could be worth $4 in a decade.
When they're this new, the entire run is out there somewhere. Collectors will only be interested in Gem Uncirculated condition notes. Even these will be saved for future appreciation in value. With the fold and spot above the first zero of the serial number, it doesn't qualify yet in the current market. As these notes are destroyed or pulled from circulation, their value increases exponentially because of the run size.
It is, but since it is such a new note and people are aware of that...they have been saved in high grade and are easy to find. I doubt it will ever have much of a premium. But, it is still a neat find. I would probably hang on to it...but just know it's not worth a fortune.
I appreciate the responses. Being the 1st star I've ever gotten, and the fact that I think the $2 is the most beautiful current print currency, I'm going to put her in a protector and hang on to it. Its been a good conversation starter so far
