First, is there anyone on this board from Northwest Indiana?

Second, if there is a few, have you ever been to J&J Coin and Stamps in Hammond?

I haven't been there yet and I'm looking for a coin dealer near me I can go to frequently, and just wanted a little more information if anyone could provide me with it.

    Thanks

I have heard some member or members say that they are from NW Indiana, so if we keep this thread up long enough, maybe one or more of them will connect with you.

Alright, cool. Thank you. Just trying to find a reputable shop near me. I have seen coins in an antique shop near me, but since they are antique dealers their coin supply is limited and possibly not one that would replenish itself.

Maybe I should have just titled it NW Indiana so it sticks out more. Oopsie daisies. If there is a Mod or someone who could change it for me that would be great!

Thanks for the offer but as of now I'm not into buying yet. I have a lot of pennies that I'm going through before I really get into any type of buying. I was more interested in getting some feedback on J&J Coins and Stamps because it is the only dealer so far that I know of in my area. I basically wanted to know if they are reputable and a good trustworthy place to go. From what I understand they have been in business for something like 40 years. This sounds like they would be reputable and a good place to buy and sell from, but I was just looking for some input on whether that is true or not. When I think coin dealer I think someone or a few people who are very knowledgeable, fair, and nice. Just tryin to confirm this.

Also you said other local dealers. Where might these be? I am looking for the info as a future reference when I start buying. Thank You

Never purchase or sold anything to JJ. I have done business with Hobson coins on 45th avenue in Munster and Crescent jewelry in Lansing,Il on Torrence ave. Both John and Bill are good guys to deal with. I hope this helps a little.

That does actually. I work in Munster and was unaware there was a shop there. Thanks for the reply!

Edit: update. I went to J&J tonight and it was a very pleasant experience. The guys were very nice and one was even going slightly out of his way to show me some cool stuff they had. He showed me two PCGS certified 3-legged buffalo nickels, those were very cool. He also was glad to show me the differences between a DDO and Strike doubled coin. (All the searching I did on my own was no help, but he cleared it up no problem and with practice I'm sure I can spot 'em). So overall it was a great time.
