Finally got some new roman women in my ancient collection. Only had Julia Domna. I have wanted a Plautilla for several months and it paid to wait & ask around. Got it for much less then what she usually goes for. The Julia Maesa was a add on since I had extra from Plautilla:hail: Shes one of my more rougher pick ups. Seller photos again, just fixed in photoshop to what they actually look like. PLAVTILLA AVGVSTVS Head of Plautilla right PIETAS AVGG Pietas standing front, head right, holding a child. IVLIA MAESA AVG, draped bust right. PVDICITIA, Pudicitia seated left, raising veil and holding scepter.
Ive read what Pietas was so I found it interesting due to what you mentioned. It was either this reverse or the one with her & Caracalla and that coin was more worn.
Very nice style for both obverses, but I still prefer Plautilla (here is something I wrote, sorry it's in french, about her : http://plautille-deniers.over-blog...._Plautille_description_des_types-1605110.html ) Q
Yes, great coins! Nice additions. The bust of Plautilla is great.... she is someone I have wanted a coin of for quite some time, ever since I first got into Romans.... but like you said, sometimes it pays to wait for the right one to come around. The portrait of Julia Maesa is quite nice as well. The coin may be a little bit rougher like you said, but the detail is good.
