If you had to choose one or the other to collect, which would you choose, would you choose the 2 cent piece or the Shield nickel?
2 cent for me. Although, I really like nickels in general, I just don't like the Shield design, especially because of the small date. I know the 2 cent has a similar design (placement, size, etc) for the date, but it is not as small in the context of the overall design and coin size. Plus, the "large" peice of copper you get with a 2 cent is nice.
Actually I would not choose between them. I would collect both - oh wait - I do. The two centers are just a higher grade.
I have been collecting two cent pieces for a number of years so this is an easy choice for me. Just a personal preference, I prefer copper coins in general. With both circulation and proof strike sets completed I just get to look at them now days.
