Just picked up these lots today at DNW in the UK. The NFLD and Nova Scotia lot was pretty cheap and the Canadian Quarters a little steep but still £80 under my max bid. Clearly each coin will need a bit of study to see exactly what I got but the 1885 25c is a key date. On another issue my other NFLD key dates arriving from the USA have been stopped by customs (10 DAYS) and I got hit with a $60 charge to get them through to my address. No letter, no note, just had to snoop on the net to find out who had them. Anyway.......here's the pictures from the Auction House.
Looks like you are assembling a nice collection of Canada & provincial coins. When you receive the coins in the top photo, it would be nice to see close-up photos depicting both sides of the upper left Newfoundland 20 cent and the Newfoundland 10 cent.
coins arrived Collect89....looks like some very nice coin/dates arrived in the lots..esp the lot you seemed interested in. NFLD 20c were 1881, 1872 and 1865....some decent grades and dates. However, you were right to look at the 10c.....it's an 1896 and looks in super grade, should get AU50 easy. The NFLD 1882H 5c also looks in decent grade. As such, the cheaper NFLD and Nova Scotia lot looks to have turned out far better than the more expensive Canadian lot of 25c. Dates for the Can 25c's turned out to be: 1870, 1872, 1874, 1881 times 2, 1882, 1885, 1899, and 1900.
Also took a chance on two large Canadian lots unseen as I got them for only a little over their silver bullion value. At McKee coins on I collector I got 50 .800 5c pieces and 30 .800 25c pieces. I image some will have numismatic value out of the 80 coins, on to a winner I think.
