I have the opportunity to purchase 200 $2 bills in sequential order. They are 2003 new. Give me feedback on this please.

well it all depends on what reserve they are from. are they 2003 or 2003A. besides that unless they are star notes there isnt much of a premium over face. we order them in a $2000 brick at work and they are usually 2003 or 2003A. there are plenty to go around. so unless you are getting them for face value and plan on holding on to them its not the greatest investment

not much of a premium like urban said. Stars would be a better buy, or a short print run ect

i would let them pass imho

It depends how much you are getting them for...but if they aren't star notes I wouldn't pay more than face value. They are just too common. If you are getting them for face value, I'd probably take them and go through them. Maybe a nice serial or an error in there somewhere, if not just cash them back in.

They are for face value though I am not sure which reserve. I usually only mess with coins so I rellay did not know. My sister had them come into her cash office and thought I might want them.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Not much of an investment, but they are fun to spend.

And, Erin, if you want, I can take them to my next coin club meeting and put them in the auction and sell maybe 10 in sequential order and you might get a small premium and I'll give it to you (since we live 10 minutes apart and haven't met yet).....that way there will be no fees and if you make anything, it will be yours (and not the greedy ebay people).

    PM me if you want.

I'd probably grab them and go through them. If they are all in order and were just deposited...who knows what serial number range they are. Perhaps there is a radar note or a ladder or something in there. Why not grab them, go through them and if there isn't anything you want either spend them or deposit them. You'll be out nothing. I would get them for sure.

Ok forgive my ignorance but what is a "radar" or "ladder" note? I have never collected paper before so very ignorant.

A radar is one where the serial number reads the same forward and backward (like the word "radar"). These are sought after by paper collectors.

A repeater is one in which the first 4 numbers repeat (example: 32543254).

A ladder is one in which the numbers go up in succession......I think. Correct me if I'm wrong guys....

DJ never really plugs his site...it seems you are to new to know that!
The time and effort he has put into it and what he has shared here speaks for itself.
It might be a good idea for you to first know who you are dealing with before making such remarks!

WhereEaglesDare, please dont take my posting a link to my site as anythign else then my trying to help you answer your question. I do not sell anything on my site, and try to set the site up in a way that visitors can learn a thing or two while browsing. I know i learn alot more then i could ever remember setting it up lol I am no master, but am just a student myself. As such, i spend alot of time browsing other CT member sites... including the links you post :) Yes, it is a way for all of us with wesbsites to 'brag' a bit about what we aquire, but also to admire what we each collect. I enjoy collecting and learning from those both new to the hoby, and from those who have been around a while. I also like helping others learn :p

my appologies if my link was taken as anythign else but an effort to help :)

I, personally, have found Daggarjon most helpful and his site a joy to view, and not just because my name is mentioned on it ::snicker::
