Two Apollo 11 half dollar commemoratives went to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the SpaceX resupply mission CRS-17 from May 4 to June 3, 2019. One of the coins will be displayed by the US Mint, and the other by the Smithsonian, specifically the National Air and Space Museum.

As you know, there were several organizations that some of the proceeds of the sales of the commemorative coins went to fund. One of the organizations is the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, which gives scholarships to students that study in assorted scientific fields that are useful to the space program. In the above linked article there is a YouTube link to a woman who was a scholarship winner X years ago. She is giving a spiel about the coins. One little detail, she is currently an astronaut, and she is giving her spiel aboard the ISS.
