    Greeting from a new member,

My wife's grandfather gave this to her back in the '70's. I have looked it up in the red book and see it has a low mintage. I just would like have a best guess at the grade and/or value. I would love to know what other think.

    Thanks,

Hello Leapgorf and welcome to the forum :)

The obverse looks to me like it's AU50; the reverse looks more like VF20. I would consider the total grade to be EF40. I also am curious to see what the others think.

    Hello, and welcome.

If authentic, it might be Almost Uncirculated, and might be worth apprx. $4,000.

If it's an Extra Fine example, it might be worth apprx. $3,000.

I can't say for sure that it's authentic, so you might consider having it examined by an expert.

    Good luck!

You need to send this coin to NGC or PCGS for authentication. From the pictures provided, I would say it is genuine. The diagnostics are there. It is difficult to grade from a picture but looks to be EF+. The value would be around $3000. Very nice coin.

    Have a good day, Gary

I would agree with the EF grade - I would also agree that such a coin would have to be authenticated by one of the top grading companies.

DO NOT try to sell this coin unless you have it graded & slabbed.

Thanks for all the great comments. I do plan to send it off to to get it graded and slabbed. I'll update you folks when I get it back.
