Searched $900 today, the best pull...canceled in PA on a Philadelphia district note, nice condition too.
So this past weekend I found out the story behind my cancelled 1976 $2 star note. Apparently when they came out my grandma got a stack of bills from her bank and gave them to a postal worker friend of hers to stamp and cancel. It was sheer luck that I got the only star from that strap. From my research, these are scarce from this particular western PA post office. Now the star is already in Ch CU condition with the cancelled stamp, so I wonder if what Post Office location it is stamped in could increase the value. Any ideas?
It is not a postal cancellation. It was run through a postal meter without any postage applied (it reads .00). I have seen many postal cancellations but this is the first from a meter.
