I was given this today... 1 - What is that black mark in the top left had of the coin. Its not a scratch or dent as far as I know. 2 - Whats the silver content of the coin. Ive searched all over I cant find any numbers. cheers.
1. crayon, tar, grease, permanent marker? 2. .925 silver - Actual Silver Weight is 0.6727 oz. Check other side - VICTORIA - is 2nd I actually an upside-down 1? It makes the coin worth more than a 2 I'ed Victoria.
I already did....its just 2 normal Is...but the 2nd I is a little strange, it like as a crack at the bottom...though it doesnt look like the other Is, it does look more like an I than a 1. And its not crayon either lol..Its like paints been scratched off, but its not a scratch.
Use the other I's and 1 on the coin for comparison. DEI & GRATIA as well as BRITT: & FID: and 1889. My daughter said the mark looked like paint to her.
Good, we don't need no dum people here. What source did you use for the 2 I'd Victoria info? I'm always looking for more references on the multitudes of British coins. If it was online would you post a link?
Yeah It was online, I coulnt tell you the site though. I just typed in '1889 Double Florin' in google and was going through all the sites and read that.
