Just got back from the Philly, what a great way to spend a rain morning. It was nice to see alot of the world coins and ancients I don't get to see them in great numbers. I picked up a nice 43 penny for my 10y old daugthor she thinks that they are neet. For myself I picked up a 22,23, and 24 Peace Dollars they were all slabed. I found all the dealers that I talked to were very helpful, which is encouraging to a new collector.
Glad you had a positive experience. I enjoy going to shows when I can and find that if you take the time to talk to some dealers, many of them are good folks who are a pleasure to talk to. There are a few troll.gnome.shrew type dealers but you learn who they are and avoid them in future shows. Hope you picked up a few good purchases. I was thinking about trying to get to Philly but just didn't work out.
I was there Friday morning also. Came up by Amtrak. Nice time to go because the place is not crowded. That happens on Saturday (and maybe Fri afternoon). If traveling is not much of a problem for you, put Nov 5/6 on your calendar. The same show (Whitman) will be in Baltimore that weekend.
I went to my first coin show in Philly today as well. Spent all my time at the JJ Teaparty table and added some nice coins to my type set. Gail & Liz were awesome. I got there about 12:30 and it really wasn't that crowded. Some dealers were already packing up their inventory.
