Kool , is that a picture of the king with crown ? Also the back looks like a girl walking .

Gallienus is wearing a radiate crown, indicating that the denominaton is an antoninianus/double-denarius. Reverse looks to be victory advancing left carrying wreath.

Coincidentally, I just got my first Gallienus today. It was a freebie thrown in with a trade for other coins. I still haven't found one with the right silver content, engraving quality, and preservation to really satisfy me.

very cool. I have a few as some uncleaned lots I got for a bit had some interspersed.

As a fan of portraits on coins, this one is my favorite even though its in pretty bad shape on a small flan...thought maybe clipped but it just seems too round to be clipped:

Cleaned it myself from some crusties.

pretty cool for 2.70 seeing as u can make out the bust and some lettering n a little bit on the back

ps: Drusus what did you pay for the first coin pictured there or did they both come from a pile of uncleaned?

thanx, :) and yeah I was leaning towards vintory, mars, or sol, but after seeing how many different ones there are, :desk: ill probably just put a ??? when I label it,lol

those are nice one Drusus , I wana start cleaning my own, and hope I find some like those. Have any of you heard about noble roman coins? good or bad? they had a starter kit I was thinking about getting, that have 30 uncleaned and a diamond dusted pic. I also think I might get some uncleaned junk coins to learn with first.

Noble Roman is great. The owner is, in my opinion, one of the greatest cleaners I know. Just look at the other coins in his shop.

Nice first you got there:hail: Drusus as usual they are sweet :thumb: If you are going to clean crusted ones try one of the fiberglass pens, they work wonders on encrusted dirt :)

The second one I posted was from an uncleaned lot sent by this place:

    http://www.ancientcoins.ca/

I have bought from both and so far I got the best uncleaned lots from the link above. They sell them cleaned, crusty, semi-crusty, and all others in between. His are the only uncleaned lots that I have found Probus, Gallienus, Aurelian, etc...most other places you dont get much more than Constantine and clan. NRC sells mostly coins already cleaned saying that they have to clean them to a point to assure premium (and to cull I am sure). Even buying premium I wasnt very impressed...I dont think they sell the super crusty coins.

    randygeki,

Congratulations on your new coin. I agree that it looks like Victory on the reverse.

Drusus, I like the portrait on your first coin as well. I don't believe the flan has been clipped either. It's just irregular. Those are nice coins though if you got them in uncleaned lots.

I've never gotten anything from Kevin (I don't do uncleaneds), but know many folks on Forvm have gotten stuff from him & been happy.
