Hi has anyone ever seen this on an Ike before ? Or on any coin ? This Ike is a nice coin, it has the talon on the obverse, doubling on the obverse above his upper lip that actually curls up from the field. Then there are these crazy craters. Exactly seven of them six in the field and one on the rim. They are perfectly the same in size and depth, except the one on the rim that was only a a little on the coin, and one that is about 2/3rds struck. On the reverse they appear as bumps. I have used up every resource I have and can't for the life of me figure out how this could of been a mint produced effect. or how anyone could of done this to the coin after minting ? if you have any knowledge or feelings would you please share? 1971 bumps 001.jpg 1971 bumps 002.jpg Picture 002.jpg Picture 003.jpg Picture 004.jpg

I said this coin had a talon on the obverse, but was looking at a 1971, sorry about that. But it is these crazy craters that have me in a ponder, if you know something please share it.

Someone beat the heck out of that Ike. It is a damaged coin and worth $1.

Thank you that is perfect. I couldn't figure the action but a pellet gun would be uniform and that's it exactly. Thank you so much. Off to pick these four boxes of kennedy halfs. Have a good one.
