1999 wide AM error question?

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Bigbluemax2017, Jan 4, 2021.

  1. Hi, I ran across this 1999 D penny, I know that its the 1999 that has a wide AM but I looked at the one I found compared to a normal 1999 d Lincoln penny and the AM in America are clearly touching in every example I have except the one I found that the A clearly isn't touching the M in America. Could I please get some opinions after seeing the pictures im including in this post. Thank you in advance for taking the time to check this out. 1999 d 1.jpg 1999 d 2.jpg 1999 d.jpg

Clearly close. Notice in the wide AM the M is centered between the A and E.

Here is an actual 1999 WAM. Check out out the spacing between the AM and the ME.

It is indeed. I've managed to find 2 in 750 boxes and probably 50-100 bags of cents searched.

This is the key. It doesn't matter whether the AM is touching or if there is a gap between them, it is is the M CENTERED between the A and the E or is it closer to the A. If it is centered it's a wide AM, if it is close to the A it is a close AM.
