1999 silver colored lincoln cent

    This coin looks like it was minted that way. No signs of acid washing . No signs of tampering with. Does anybody have an idea how much this would sell for ? It is in excellent condition.

    My guess would be the copper plating was removed, thus making it look silver when it's really the zinc. They started making copper-plated zinc cents in 1982. They had copper early issues for that year but later on they switched to copper-plated zinc. I have tried this before with a copper cent, no silver color. Tried it with a 1990 cent and it showed silver coloring. It's just the copper coming off.

    It's possible that it is an unplated mint error.

    This is the way it looks. I will try to post some pics . I only have my scanner so it may not be as clear as this one.
    Mine has tiny places where copper can be seen .
