1999 S Proof Small Cud

    Had this for awhile just noticed the small cud above WE on obverse

    Though some people may consider this a cud, I ascribe to the earlier definition which requires that the break lie on the rim and extend into the field.

    I dont think I'd call that a cud, Im not even sure if thats a die break. Rim burr?

    Not sure really. Sent the pics to cuds on coins to see what they say.

    That is what is known as a
    "Die Dent' (based on the photos)

    The die was dented, or damaged,
    or came in contact with something,
    and then struck this coin (and others)

    Oh yes that is what it is. I forget about die dents lol, found a couple on 2015-P 25C Homesteads. Can these become die breaks?

    I doubt that they turn into die cracks, although if used
    long enough, I could see that potential possibility.
